While we are getting more and more letters and posts in our guestbook from others who voice the same frustrations that we have about the current state of affairs (both in our country and the world), we have apparently attracted a few (how should I put this?) stark raving mad lunatics as well. There are so many letters, I'll let most of the ones in the guestbook speak for themselves, but here are a few letters to the Editor (and one disturbing email) that might be of interest.
At least Bush had the nerve to take out Hussain. You guys need to spend some time in Iraq, maybe then you'd see what being an American is all about, and it's not about bashing our President and supporting queers, cripples, and manorities.

I hope you all rot in hell. True Americans don't question there President, espeshilly when he is doing God's work. You are worse than the terrorists, since you are terrorizing Americans. I'm a meat eating, God-fearing, Iraqi-hating, patriot who parks in handicap spaces without a sticker. You got a problem with that?

No, I don't have a problem with that. However, I do have a problem with your inability to spell correctly. And it's "their", not "there". That drives me crazy. Are you from Texas as well? If so, maybe you and James should hook up.
Good website. Very insightful. Notice that the ones who had bad reviews can't even spell? Vote Kerry (even though he's an average candidate at best) because I can't stand Bush.

Hello love the voicing. Finally a paper where there is no hidden agenda. Love what I have viewed so far. Keep your nose from getting brown and you mind skewed by others. I would love to write an article to be approved by the board of directors and printed thereafter.

Thank You for the wonderful story about not eating meat. I have been vegan for some time now and love hearing how people quit eating that garbage and realizing how good nature really is.. I am now convinced they are trying to kill everyone so they are promoting Atkins and pumping the meat full of drugs. No wonder girls start their periods at the age of nine now...It's the hormones. Thanks Again..I love the site.

Our writers are from several different states, but all are originally from the heartland. I wish I could be more specific, but as supportive as most of out readers have been, others are just as virulent. The world gets scarier every day. Hopefully, together we can all make it a better place for our children's children children.

My 2.5 Cents Worth
I just read "We Have Seen The Enemy" after finding it quite by accident. I agree with what is written 100%. Normally I'm a laid-back guy who doesn't express his political opinions very often or at least not in a public forum. At this particular time I am finding myself unable to remain silent while these atrocities are going on all around me. Of course we who question the motives of our elected officials are often labeled, and you can insert any one of a hundred negative labels here, but the bottom line is this. If the real America stands for freedom and particularly freedom of expression, then let those who choose to believe in the swill-bucket of propaganda that this current administration is throwing at the American people, then let them wallow in their own garbage. I guess if I thought it was too late to turn this all around, I'd join in the madness. I don't subscribe to any particular political ideology nor am I afiliated with any political party. I'm just a human being, trying to make sense of a country run amok.

Thanks, you have succeeded in summing up the thoughts of a lot of frustrated and disenfranchised Americans. If you get a chance, read my article entitled "The Radical Middle" www.faulkingtruth.com/article/?Commentary&1003 . It doesn't address the Iraq situation directly, but it discusses how "the media feeds the flames of unrest by presenting the polarized views of the Extreme Right and the Elite Left, while Middle America, which actually includes the vast majority of Americans, is totally ignored". It's time those views are heard, IMO. Thanks again for being a true American.
I think the best of President Bush and think he should be reelected as a strong conservative voter. God backs this great president no matter what critisicm he receives from the liberal media . Hes not perfect but he has fundamentally right about moral issues. You liberals out there should think about the troops dying in the battlefields for your unworthy behinds. They look up to Bush and the defense department in their efforts to rid the world of idea . how many have to die beforeyou start retracting your comments about America and President Bush. God bless this nation and the president.

God backs this President? When I said that "this scandal will ultimately extend far beyond the rank and file soldiers in the field to the highest levels of the administration", I wasn't aware that God actually held a Cabinet position in the Bush Administration. Although I firmly believe that Bush himself will ultimately be implicated in this scandal (I'm basing my opinion on the overall pattern of secrecy that this administration has exhibited, and the blatant disregard that they have shown for the authority of the United Nations, the rules of the Geneva Convention, and the American Constitution itself, as well as the information that is already leaking out), somehow, I can't believe that God himself approved this war or the use of abuse against Iraqi prisoners. The buck stops at the White House, and it's ludricrous and pompous to use religion as an authority to dismantle our Constitution.

I wish. I still think this guy is going to get reelected (or, re-selected). Please note how Bush-lovers simply believe that this is what "terrorists" deserve.

Although I complain a lot, I'm still an optimist at heart. Bush getting re-elected, and having free-rein to impart "Texas-style justice" on the rest of the world for another four years, is too scary to think about.
Very good article my friend however I think the following quote is not acceptable as it generalises a populace. It could just be a small mistake when writing the article and correcting it now would be the right thing to do.

Point taken. That passage now reads "We have gone to a country halfway around the world, and made every Arab nation depise us by claiming the moral high ground, and then lowering ourselves to the level of the terrorists". Who says I'm inflexible? However, I stand by my contention that Arab nations despise us, but I was wrong to paint them all as terrorists that we have "lowered" ourselves to. Sorry. Also, I was wrong to imply that all Americans are the culprits (that was not my intent). Unfortunately, the despicable actions of a few often negate the good deeds of the majority. Sorry again. (There, I've apologized more in one paragraph than Bush has in his entire term as President.)
There are a lot more in the guestbook claiming that Bush is the Devil, that "The Christian right has just become another tool in the demonic Illuminati's Zionist agenda for global dominance", yada, yada, yada. You know, the usual stuff. Go there and you'll be entertained, and maybe a bit frightened as well. I know I was.
And finally, I received this succinct email a couple of days ago. I think it pretty much speaks for itself:

It's up to Americans to point out what is wrong with the country we care about (as well as what is right). If you don't see that, you are part of the problem.
